Gale prides itself on a well-established reputation in the world library market as a premier provider of biographical content. This database is packed with more biographies and more full-text periodical material than other similar databases available elsewhere. This content — taken from the best resources everywhere and put into one easy-to-find-location — includes the following:
- Periodical — full-text articles from nearly 300 magazines selected for their biographical coverage in a broad range of subject areas
- Reference — More than 435,000 biographies on more than 340,000 people, including biographies (2,000-3,000-word essays) from Gale titles such as Contemporary Authors, Dictionary of American Biography, Encyclopedia of World Biography, Notable Scientists: From 1900 to the Present, Scribner Encyclopedia of American Lives, and Contemporary Black Biography, as well as brief biographies from Gale titles such as Who's Who Among African Americans, Directory of American Scholars, Writer's Directory and Almanac of Famous People, which also include citations for additional resources
- 3rd Party — Customers have the option of adding the Marquis Who's Who™, a database of more than one million brief biographies, to their library's Biography Resource Center
Between 50,000 - 75,000 new and/or updated biographies from notable Gale titles are added to this database each year. And more than 400 never-before-published biographies, written specifically for inclusion in the Biography Resource Center, are also included each year. High-profile biographies already in the Biography Resource Center are updated regularly.
This breadth of content makes the Biography Resource Center a valuable resource for all libraries. |
