Finding Information

Researching company and industry information is quick and easy with Business & Company Resource Center. Researchers can choose from five different search types. From simple keyword searches to more precise company or article searches, there is a way for everyone to access the information they need.

Searching

Business & Company Resource Center offers many quick and easy search options. Users can shape their searches using any or all of the  Company, Industry, Articles and Advanced search options and further narrow searching using Boolean and other limiting functionality.

Quick Start Search

Perhaps the easiest and most general of the search options is the Quick Start Search. Users simply enter a word or phrase in the entry field and choose which part of the database — Company, Industry or Articles — to search.

Company

Looking for a company? Enter company information in any or all of the provided fields to search. Also included in Company search is the Product/Brand search feature, which allows users to search for a product or brand by name or description.

Industry

Looking for information on an industry? Researchers can start with an Industry search. By typing in the name of the industry or using SIC or NAICS codes, the information they seek is always close by. Our hierarchical browse of industry terms is also ideal for beginning searchers, allowing them to navigate between broad industry categories or specific industry sectors.

Articles

If specific articles on business topics, companies or industry are desired, Article search is the place to begin. Gale's industry-recognized subject guide searching is fully supported in this search option, in addition to keyword and article text. Additional limiters are available for those who wish to search by date, journal name, full text, peer-reviewed, newspapers/magazines or magazines/journals.

Advanced

Advanced Search is a great way to limit your search by database or source immediately. By selecting a content area (example: company histories), you may search just that database for information. Advanced search options provide fielded searching for very specific searches such as companies with 100 employees or less.

Search Results

How Search Results Are Organized

Once an initial query has been performed, Business & Company Resource Center provides a convenient at-a-glance results tab bar. Clicking on the desired information source delivers researchers to a list of matching results. An additional click on the desired result displays the needed information. These results can be printed, e-mailed and shared with others.

Business & Company Resource Center also includes First Call Earnings Consensus Snapshots from  Thomson Financial; Industry Overviews from Gale's Encyclopedia of American Industries, Encyclopedia of Emerging Industries and Encyclopedia of Global Industries; market share information from Thomson Gale's Market Share Reporter and World Market Share Reporter. Navigational aids include links to related subjects from market share reports, industry overviews to suits and claims; and articles about this company are linked from the company profile on topics such as Sales and Marketing, Operations and Management and more.

Saving and Sharing Results

An added feature built into Business & Company Resource Center  is InfoTrac InfoMarksTM — the most advanced online tool ever created. InfoMarks lets users save and relaunch searches, that are updated with new content as it becomes available, and embed these successful searches on Web pages, e-mail, word processing documents and more.
