provides a comprehensive collection of Spanish-language materials, including award-winning reference material from
both Gale and Grupo Océano, a wide range of magazines and journal, plus essential primary source documents.
In addition to standard and advanced search methodologies and a dictionary function, Consulta provides a graphical
chronological timeline to simplify research of specific eras, plus an extensive image gallery.
Search 1:
A young man wanted to find reference articles on treatments for diabetes.
Solution:
- Opened Consulta and entered "diabetes
y tratamiento" [diabetes and treatment] in the "Buscar:"
[Search] entry box.
- Clicked on the arrow button, then on the "Referencia" [Reference]
link and retrieved more than 225 reference articles.
Search 2:
A teacher in Arizona wanted to find
articles in Spanish about illegal immigration problems facing her
state.
Solution:
- Opened Consulta and selected "Inglés"
[English] for "Seleccionar idioma" [Select language].
- Clicked on the "Dictionaries"
link.
- Entered the word "illegal",
checked the "English-Spanish Dictionary" box and clicked
on the "search" button to retrieve the word "ilegal".
- Returned to the "Dictionaries"
page and entered the word "immigration", checked the
"English-Spanish Dictionary" box and clicked on the
"search" button to retrieve the word "inmigración".
- Entered "inmigración
ilegal y Arizona" in the "Search:" box at the top
of the page and clicked on the arrow button, retrieving 10 articles.
Search 3:
A student wanted to retrieve a biography
of the Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez
Zapatero for a report he was writing.
Solution:
- Opened Consulta and went to the
"Biografías" [Biographies] page.
- Entered "Zapatero" in
the "Nombre:" [Name] entry box.
- Selected "Masculino"
[Male] for " Género:" [Gender].
- Selected "Políticos"
[Politicians] for "Actividad:" [Occupation].
- Selected "España"
[Spain] for "Nacionalidad:" [Nationality].
- Clicked on the "Buscar"
[Search] icon and retrieved the desired biography.
Search 4:
How can one find photographs of the
Alhambra in Granada, Spain?
Solution:
- Open Consulta and go to the "Galería"
[Image Gallery] page.
- Enter "alhambra" in
the "Titulo, descriptores y pie:" [Title, descriptors
and caption] entry box.
- Click on the "Buscar"
[Search] icon to retrieve four color photographs.
Search 5:

Solution:
